 HORROR: Eyes Of The Forest Eyes of the forest: Director: Finn Sheridan and Sophie Craw The camera angles are following both the victim and the attacker on their journey until they meet. The lighting is light out, there are no dark tones except for the costume of the attacker who is in all black, which isn't conventional for horror films. What do we learn?   There's young lady running out alone in the woods. She is captures by someone whilst out on a run. Who are we introduced to? We are introduced to a young lady and and I presume, an older man. What setting are used? A forest, it's slightly dimmed. The forest is close to a town because she had to run there. Although it's probably close by it is far away enough for no one to notice she's gone. What is the look/style/aesthetic? It looks eary because no ones around, and it's showing that any time or place.  HORROR: SCREAM Scream: Director: Wes Craven The film starts with a young girl who is home alone which automatically makes this the perfect time for a murder or something full of fear to happen. Casey is wearing light coloured clothes which highlights any stains or blood, so we can see any cut or dirt etc. When Casey puts the phone down and it rings again, that's when we know something is going to happen. Casey puts popcorn on the hob this is symbolic of the plot getting out of control and ready for some bad to happen.  Casey is panicking and crying and the voice on the phone gets more and more demanding and frightning. As we don't know what's happening we are almost going on this weird ride with her. The cinematography is slow and 'normal' at first but when the tension builds up the editing get quicker and we see the popcorn and the phone and the girl in the span of a few seconds.  HORROR: IT     IT: Director: Andy Muschietti In this opening the weather is miserable and raining, it's also night which is a horror convention. Georgy is wearing a yellow rain coat and yellow wellies, this can represent Georgy as innocent and positive, compared to Pennywise who is in the dark and has red make up, this can represent danger and how he could be a danger towards Georgy.  The camera keeps cutting to the little yellow boat and Georgy. The camera is also placed at Pennywise's eyes locking up to Georgy and also placed at Georgy's eyes looking down upon Pennywise. The music playing is a positive toned piece which is not normally associated with horror. As soon as Georgy hits his head the music dynamic changes and it builds suspension. HORROR - A Quiet Place A Quiet Place: Director: John Krasinski Watching the video above until 3 minutes. The film starts with a few clips of the derelict town, in about 0.30 minutes in there's movement of a young boy running. This Sets the scene for the rest of the film. The setting is very quiet and it starts with the characters in a shop, no body is around. The characters are using sign language to communicate. There's missing people posters up on a pin board, the director thought about every detail to the mise-en-scene. The cinematography and editing is slow, there 8 still videos of the town that show the setting. They are about 4 second videos which are quite long compared to 2 second clips. The camera angle varies to give the best angle. Some are shots of the floor and some are of the sky/ceiling. Attack The Block Todorov's Narrative Theory Attack the block uses a Narrative theory. I will be using Todorov's theory to explain the narrative behind attack the block. Todorov's theory is where all narratives follow a simple structure, this structure has 4 parts to to it. These 4 stages are: 1) equilibrium (where everything is normal) 2) something disrupts the equilibrium 3) resolving the problem 4) the new equilibrium This fits nicely into Attack the block, first is the equilibrium (1) and that means what normal and what usually happens, this is the 'gang' mug an innocent girl, Sam.
