This film is about a young girl who has trouble sleeping. the director plays along with he theory that you only have one continuousness nightmare. The girl tries to take pills to help her sleep through it so she stops having nightmares. The film is a horror and the mise en scene helps to show that.
What do we learn?
In the opening we learn that a girl is running, she's holding a torch as we can assume she's running away from someone or something. She's almost possessed in some scenes with something drawing her to the woods. We get the idea of the girl being followed or stalked as when she's in the kitchen, the camera is on the outside of the window.
Who are we introduced to?
We are introduced to a girl who looks like she's in her teen years. The girl clearly has trouble sleeping and is trying to take pills to go to sleep as she has nightmares. Her white costume show's she could be a ghost or even an angel.
What setting are used?
The setting is in a woods and a house. The woods is in her dream and the house is real life. The film is set in the dark or at dusk, this makes the film move eary and creepy.

The look of the film is Rural as there's a woods and no one is around
What conventions of the genre are there?
There's conventions of the film apply to horror film, such as it being set in the dark at night and the girl is alone which makes her vulnerable.
Is it obvious what genre is is? Is it a hybrid?
Yes the genre is a horror and it also has an element of mystery because in the woods we don't know where she's going.
